Hybrid AI production, asset upscaling, character animation, AI post production
When precision matters more than possibility, Gen AI becomes a test of workflow design and specialist craft, not just tool capability.
Emotive briefed us to animate and upscale an existing unicorn character asset for Weis’s summer digital campaign. The challenge: replicate a specific, pre-approved animation while delivering significantly higher resolution output. This is precisely the kind of brief Gen AI struggles with. Most practitioners know the technology excels at exploration and variation, not exactitude. Tight creative parameters and pixel-perfect consistency demand a different kind of expertise.
Our approach combined iterative testing across multiple AI models with traditional post-production techniques, designing a hybrid workflow that allowed us to control motion fidelity and resolution enhancement without losing the character’s existing personality.
Extensive R&D and close collaboration with the agency ensured the final output met their exacting standards. We delivered both the precise animation they needed and the technical quality required for large-scale digital deployment.
The result proved what we believe: Gen AI’s limitations aren’t always technological, they’re methodological. The right workflow, guided by artists who understand both traditional and AI pipelines, can push the technology into territory most assume it can’t reach.
“MC&V are the kind of partner you want when the brief gets gnarly. We came to them with a technically complex job for Weis: animating a unicorn while significantly upscaling the resolution. The brief changed more than once, but MC&V didn't flinch. They kept at it, doubled down on R&D, and pushed through until they delivered. What separates them is their deep understanding of AI and their ability to work with the right talent to actually solve the brief, not just attempt it.”
